Queensland has announced a new Battery Booster Rebate Scheme to encourage the uptake of home battery storage systems. Rebates of up to $4,000 are available to QLD households that install eligible battery storage systems.
The Queensland Battery Booster Rebate Scheme is a new initiative by the Queensland government to encourage the uptake of home battery energy storage systems. The scheme will provide a residential battery rebate program worth $24 million. The exact date of the scheme’s commencement is yet to be announced, but the government has hinted that it will be rolled out next year.

The scheme's objective is to encourage the installation of approved battery systems at residential premises.
The rebate program is expected to increase home battery uptake and reduce the installation cost for homeowners. The rebate will be available to all Queensland residents who purchase and install an eligible battery system.
The rebate amount is up to $4,000 if the applicant's taxable income is $66,667 or less, or $3,000 for higher income earners.
The Queensland government has been actively promoting the use of renewable energy sources, and the Battery Booster Rebate Scheme is a step in that direction. The scheme is expected to reduce the state’s reliance on fossil fuels and help achieve its net-zero emissions target by 2050. The scheme is also expected to create jobs in the renewable energy sector and boost the local economy.
